IDL (Interface Description Language) is a notation for describing
abstract data structures. It was used to define Diana, an intermediate
representation of Ada programs. IDL was the subject of my Ph.D.
dissertation, and is a part of my ongoing research efforts. I am
interested in hearing from anyone who has used IDL. I would like to
share experiences with defining data structures in IDL, or with building
tools to process IDL descriptions. I am also interested in
discovering areas where current IDL is weak.
