Nothing new here. I was under the impression that .NET, like the Java Bytecode Engine, constrained what languages are able to do. I felt this was confirmed by the release of "A#" rather than "Ada95" for .NET. In that sense, I would say the .NET environment represents quite a degradation from what is provided by VMS (and has been for about 25 years).
