One might ask how programming problems have been solved in C++ when there was no bag of template tricks? OTOH, given the quality of error messages that compilers issue for template code, why not employ a Lisp style processor that in addition to delivering C++ code also displays error messages that do not need template error message code analysis? :-) -- Georg
