Well... it depends on the nature of your project...
+/- portable, +/- console, +/- DOS, +/- interactive, ... ?
Maybe the ANSI solution is the tradeoff you are looking for.
Just by searching the Web with "procedure gotoxy is ansi ada"
I found a lot of ready-made packages. E.g. this one
