DIANA Language Workshop
The Naval Research Laboratory and Intermetrics, Inc. are jointly
sponsoring a workshop on the Ada intermediate language DIANA at the
Airlie House in Airlie, Virginia on February 5-7, 1985.
The purpose of the workshop is to identify the problems which prevent
the Ada intermediate language as currently specified from becoming a
standard and to reach a consensus as to what a standardized DIANA would
look like. There will be some brief presentations on current work
using DIANA, but most of the workshop will consist of small working groups.
The following list of issues is the core around which the final workshop
agenda will be constructed:
Desired level of standardization (declared, supported,
mandatory) of an Ada intermediate language
Uses of an Ada intermediate language to be considered
in standardizing the language
Importance of the following design principles:
Adherence to the Ada Formal Definition
Reconstructability of Ada source
Explicit extensibility
Conciseness
Stability of specification
Utility of IDL as specification language for the Ada
intermediate language
Means of specifying semantics of the Ada intermediate
language
