I just tried to obtain a copy of the "Ada Rationale" document
(ACM SIGPLAN, 14(6) June 1979 Part B) and was told it is out
of print.

For the uninitiated, the Ada Rationale explains and justifies
in some detail the design decisions that went into the 1979
version of the Ada language. I have read our library copy
and it's interesting to see justifications therein for features
which subsequently have been dropped from Ada.

I'd like to know two things:

(1) Is there a (hopefully machine-readable) version of this
document lying about on some archive machine somewhere?
(2) Does there exist an analogous document for the 1983
    (current) version of Ada?

Replies to me, I will summarize to the net.

Thanks in advance,

Ichbiah wrote a draft update of the rationale based on the ANSI 1983 version
of Ada. This draft is dated January 1984. Last I checked, the Ada InformationClearing House at the Ada Joint Program Office was selling copies.

Does anyone else on the net know the status of this draft. Has Ichbiah finishedit ?

I personally would like to encourage Jean to finish the draft and publish as
a book.

Where can i download the Ada Rationale? I've tried many links at various
pages, but they're either broken or refer to an online version.

Thanks in advance,
Chris Campbell
